Jio BlackRock's ₹17,800 crore NFO start: what's in a name?
What’s in a name? Ask #JioBlackRock!
Three #NFOs (New Fund Offers) launched under the Jio BlackRock banner have already collected ₹17,800+ crore! Instantly putting them among the top 15 fund houses by debt AUM (Assets Under Management) in India, among 47 players offering a debt #MutualFund!
To put that in perspective:
- Zerodha MF, launched 2 years ago, has ~₹6,000 crore AUM
- Bajaj Finserv AMC, launched 4 years ago, sits around ₹20,000 crore
That’s the power of a brand.
A banker friend recently asked me:
"Should I invest in Jio BlackRock's NFOs? It’s backed by two strong names!"
I had to explain:
- NFOs aren't IPOs.
- A NAV of ₹10 isn’t a “cheap price.” What matters in Mutual Funds is how the NAV grows, not where it starts!
- NFOs lack a track record, so we don't know the investing style of the fund manager
- Initial expense ratios may be higher due to smaller AUM
- Buying just because there’s buzz? That’s exactly what the AMC wants you to do
Despite all this, she said, let me gamble on the brand name!
Have you ever invested in a financial product just because of the brand name? Would love to hear your story.
