Why are we so lazy with our own money?
Why are we so lazy with our own #Money?
We negotiate fiercely for a 5% salary hike. We switch jobs for a 20% jump!
But when it comes to #Investing? We outsource our brains!
“I haven’t transferred my PF even after changing jobs.”
“An agent sold me a ULIP saying it’s like a mutual fund.”
“My banker pushed a ‘Money Back Guarantee’ plan, only years later I realized the XIRR is terrible.”
“My relative put me in regular mutual funds, earning commissions on my money.”
Sound familiar?
We research phones for weeks. We compare reviews before buying a ₹20,000 gadget.
But we sign 20-year financial products in 20 minutes. Why?
Because money decisions feel complex.
Because we trust the “expert.”
Because we assume someone else has done the homework.
Here’s the uncomfortable truth:
Most products are sold; very few are bought with understanding.
And if someone truly knew the “next big thing,” they wouldn’t need to sell it to you!
Your money deserves the same scrutiny as your career.
Maybe more.
Before investing, ask yourself:
- Do I understand how this works?
- What is the real return (post tax, post cost), more importantly, what are the Risks?
- Who benefits more, me or the seller?
Financial laziness is expensive. And the bill arrives quietly!
