Is the government becoming the camel in the tent?

Is the #Government becoming like the Camel in the tent?
Remember the story where the camel, inch by inch, pushes the Master out of his tent? Many citizens feel the same way, being cornered with every new initiative taken by the government. The latest being the #E20 fuel rollout!

#SocialMedia is full of posts highlighting a drastic drop in mileage. Even the government has admitted this, acknowledging a reduction of 1–6%, depending on vehicle make.

But could this have been handled better?
The simplest solution would be a 5% reduction in petrol prices. This would’ve absorbed the mileage-related impact and calmed public frustration, without drastically affecting government revenues.
Especially when: Ethanol blending is cost-efficient for the government, and Crude oil prices have stayed relatively stable, despite global conflicts.

Why is E20 still a step forward?
- Up to 65% reduction in CO₂ emissions
- Saves forex by cutting oil imports
- Generates rural employment through ethanol production
But there are real issues to address:
- Drop in mileage (Citizens need to be compensated)
- Faster wear and tear, if the vehicle isn’t E20-compatible
- Uncertainty around engine health for legacy vehicles

Progress shouldn’t come at the cost of trust. Citizens have adjusted enough; perhaps it's time the government meets them halfway!
