Last week, more women asked me about money than men
Last week was different!
Mostly, 'men' reach out to me for advice on personal finance.
But last week, for the first time, I had more 'women' reaching out for advice!
And they were from completely different stages of life.
One had just started her career.
One was a mid-level professional managing a team.
The third had decades of professional experience.
Yet all three had something in common:
They wanted to understand their money better.
For a very long time, family finances have traditionally been handled by the man of the house.
Where to invest.
How much to invest.
Which insurance to buy.
Which financial decisions to take.
Even as more women are becoming investors, the decision-making at home can still remain with one person.
Last week, I saw something different, with multiple women reaching out for help!
The first, a fresher, already had an investment strategy ready.
She wanted a second opinion and a credit card that suited her needs.
The second managed a team at work, but most financial decisions at home were handled by her husband.
She wanted to understand the terminology and concepts so she could participate confidently in those conversations.
The third was the most interesting.
A seasoned professional felt she hadn't saved enough.
Her question wasn't simply, “Where should I invest?”
It was:
“Where has my money gone, and how do I start building wealth independently?”
All three conversations showed me something:
Women want to be active participants in their financial journey.
And I genuinely hope more women come forward and start understanding their money better.

The first step towards financial independence isn't necessarily making an investment.
It's simply asking:
“Can you explain what we have, why we have it, and why we chose it?”
