“Patiently”: why I don't jump straight to recommendations

The one word that stood out to me in this #testimonial is: “#Patiently.”

Most people, while having a conversation, are quick to jump to a solution.
But before recommending anything, shouldn't we first understand the person and the problem?

The same #creditcard, #tax strategy, or #financial product can be:
Useful for one person, while completely unnecessary for another!

That's why I don't believe in jumping straight into recommendations.

Understand the reason first.
Then recommend the next steps.

And yes, this can be frustrating for a few.
We live in a “fast” world, where everything is expected at a 'click'.
But #PersonalFinance doesn't always work that way.

My approach has always been to have an engaging conversation, understand the situation, get to the root cause of the problem, and provide clarity on the pros and cons of the options available.

And finally:
Let the person decide what they want to do.
Because the objective isn't to make someone blindly follow a recommendation.
It is to help them make an informed decision.

That's what #MoneyMinusNoise is all about:
Understand the problem.
Explore the options.
Provide clarity.
Let the person decide.
