When public welfare takes a backseat to profit: Hebbal metro depot

When #PublicWelfare Takes a Backseat to #Profit!

#NammaMetro had bold plans - a full-fledged depot at #Hebbal that would:
- Support the upcoming Hebbal - Sarjapur metro line
- Become a key multi-modal transport hub
- Offer sorely needed parking for commuters

And here's the best part: land was already available with the government! No new acquisitions needed!
But then came the twist…
- The land was acquired decades ago for a private party, who defaulted on compensation
- Now, that land lies with KIADB, while the original landowners await compensation!

With Hebbal turning into a real estate goldmine, the lobbyists moved in. And after multiple 'high-level meetings,' the writing was on the wall.
- Metro’s original plan? 45 acres.
- What are they settling for now? Just 9 acres.

What’s next?
Expect More tech parks. More gated communities. More malls, More traffic, and Pollution!
Meanwhile, the common commuters would continue to suffer, remember most metro stations lack any meaningful parking spaces!

But #WhoCares!
