Why are we silent about polluted water bodies?

Why Are We Silent About the #Pollution in Our #WaterBodies? 🌊🛑
When I saw this pic, I wondered why there was no outroar. It seems like we’ve almost accepted it as a lost cause, it's an every-year story. But is giving up an option?
The truth is, our rivers and lakes are dying—and it’s happening right before our eyes. Recently, I visited a reservoir in Hosur (our regular picnic place), a bustling industrial town near Bangalore, only to find it foaming with toxic froth! This isn’t just a one-off incident, this is happening all over the country. In Bangalore, we’re all too familiar with Bellandur and Varthur lakes, which suffer the same fate.

What's more worrying? This polluted water indirectly enters our #FoodChain through multiple entry points. Aquatic life is already contaminated, Cattle drink this water contaminating the dairy supply chain, and the worse same water finds its way to farms, contaminating the crops! What chemicals are we unknowingly consuming? Maybe that's the reason why life-threatening diseases like #Cancer are becoming so normal these days!

Is this the "development" we were hoping for? Our collective neglect and industrial shortcuts are poisoning the water that sustains us. Everyone is busy making #money, be it the government, the corporations, or even the common employee, no one cares about the environment!

Are we willing to trade short-term convenience for long-term devastation? It’s time to ask the hard questions and make noise about it before it’s too late. But we are busy making fun of a #finfluencer who invests in FDs, instead of using the platform for talking about the real issues!
