A very professional message from a very casual friend
Recently, an old college mate reached out to me on LinkedIn for advice.
The message was extremely #professional!!!
This is someone I know from college as one of the most casual, easy-going people ever, who used to say -
“Bhai proxy laga dena, attendance kam hai.”
For a second, I genuinely wondered:
Has he built an #AIBot to message people on LinkedIn? 😄
I couldn’t resist. I immediately pinged him on WhatsApp:
“Tu theek hai na?”
His reply:
“No bot bro, I typed it myself.”
“Corporate life has changed me.”
“Also… you’re a big #finfluencer now, thought you won’t reply casually.”
The first two were understandable.
The third one hurt a little 😄
Because if you’ve seen my posts:
- No begging for “LIKE | SHARE | SUBSCRIBE”!
- No “Comment YES and I’ll DM you” hooks!
- No “Top 5 secrets to become Rich fast”!
10 minutes into the call…
We were back to our college selves.
Same language. Same comfort. Same banter.
And it hit me:
LinkedIn version of us 🤝 Real version of us is sometimes two completely different people!
#Corporate life teaches us professionalism.
But somewhere, it also teaches you to #overthink a simple “Hi”.
At the end of the day, People don’t connect with perfect tones; they connect with real ones!
If you know me or not, please don’t send me “Hope you’re doing well” messages, just for the formality 😄
Just say: “Bhai, ek kaam tha.”!
Money, careers, content… everything becomes simpler when you remove the noise.
