I bought farmland and expect zero returns

Last year, I bought a piece of #farmland.
One of my friends was furious. “Why didn’t you tell me? I would have invested too!”
It got worse when I told him, “I expect #ZeroReturns from it.”

My plan is simple-
- Grow #trees
- Improve green cover
- Give something back to the #environment
In the process, if there is any income, I would be happy!

He still doesn’t believe me. Thinks I’m hiding some “#RealProfits” from him!
Sadly, I had similar conversations with multiple friends and colleagues over the past year. They get excited about farmland, but feel confused when I say, don't expect returns!

Today, when the country is facing one of the harshest #summers, we need to pause and think, is running behind #ROIs, are we ignoring something as fundamental as the Environment?
Across India, we are seeing temperatures crossing 40–45°C in many regions, #heatwaves all around!

Every #EnvironmentDay, we talk about Climate change, rising temperatures, and unlivable cities, but sadly, we take no action!

Take #Bengaluru, for example, A city full of wealth creators! From IT czars to Startup billionaires!
But have you ever read any of them buying a large landmass and converting it into an #UrbanJungle!
On the other hand, we keep reading about builders buying more land and pouring more concrete!
Recently, a large firm bought land from Graphite India in #Whitefield to construct a Tech park and a mall. Just think, instead of that, someone bought and converted it into a jungle. Let the entry be restricted (personal wealth); at least the surrounding areas would have enjoyed fresh air and cooler weather!

Will my farmland solve #GlobalWarming? For sure, no.
But if more people do small things, it starts #compounding! (Most investors look for this word before investing, thus the usage 😁)

A simple thought, this summer, many would buy an #AC to beat the heat!
But alongside that, can they also plant 10 trees and nurture them for a few years?

Not every investment gives financial returns.
Some investments give:
- Shade
- Cooler surroundings
- Better air
- Peace of mind

In a world obsessed with returns, doing something with zero ROI might be the most valuable investment today!
