Money Minus Noise

Mutual funds & investing

Markets zoomed Monday, crashed Tuesday. Stop checking

Markets zoomed on Monday. Crashed on Tuesday!
On Monday evening, my friend messaged:
"Can’t wait to check my mutual fund portfolio tomorrow!”
Tuesday? Total silence. No message, no update!
Because the market fell, and suddenly optimism vanished!

This is where most of us go wrong with #MutualFunds.
- We check #NAVs like #StockTickers.
- We react to every headline.
- We expect our #SIPs to behave like swing trades.

But that’s not how MFs work.
- They’re built to ride cycles, not chase them.
- They work best when you give them time, not attention.

And reasons for Yesterday’s drop?
Even analysts didn’t have a solid reason! Most just said “#ProfitBooking,” the go-to excuse when nothing else fits. And I say, markets are irrational, at least in the short term!

So tell me, how often do you check your MF portfolio?
- Every time markets move erratically?
- Once a quarter/half-yearly?
- Or some other strategy?
