Parag Parikh joins the index fund wave, with a twist

📈 #ParagParikh Finally Joins the #IndexFund Wave… But With a Twist!
With the rising popularity of Index Mutual Funds, I’ve often wondered when one of India’s most trusted AMCs - Parag Parikh - would finally launch their own Index fund.

Turns out, they’re not launching a pure Index Fund…
They’re launching something more interesting:
👉 A #LargeCap Fund that mimics the #Nifty100.
- Not exactly an Index Fund.
- Not exactly an Active Fund.
- A smart hybrid and possibly the start of a new product trend in India.

🔍 What makes this fund unique?
- Index-like returns, without being a pure Index Fund
The fund aims to closely track the Nifty 100.
But because it’s not legally an index fund, the fund manager still gets flexibility to:
- use futures to enhance or hedge returns
- adjust weights proactively during index rebalancing
- capture short-term or safe opportunities outside the strict index rulebook
It’s essentially index investing with a safety net + opportunistic alpha.

- Expense ratio: 0.1% to 0.3%
This is significantly lower than: many existing Nifty 100 Index Funds, and all active large-cap funds! And PPFS has hinted that as the AUM grows, they aim to reduce costs even further.

- Are we entering a new era of “Quasi Index Funds”?
This could open the door for more AMCs to bring: index-like funds with smart flexibilities, lower-cost hybrid models, products designed primarily around investor benefit, not AMC margins!
Healthy competition is always good, especially for retail investors.

I’ve always been a strong advocate of:
✔️ low-cost Index Funds
❌ avoiding NFOs
But this one might just be the exception worth watching.
