Salaried? Advance tax may still apply to you

"#AdvanceTax first installment payment deadline is 15th June."
A friend received this email from the IT department and asked me:
"I am a #salaried employee. Why should I worry about advance tax? My company already deducts #TDS every month."

And honestly, many salaried professionals think the same.

TDS does not always mean your entire tax liability is covered.
Because salary is not always the only income we earn.

Some common examples:
1️⃣ Savings account interest
Many people ignore it because it is a small amount.
But interest earned is taxable.
(Old regime has ₹10,000 deduction under Section 80TTA. The new regime does not provide this deduction.)
2️⃣ FD/RD interest
Bank deducted TDS?
That doesn't mean your tax responsibility is over.
The interest still needs to be added to your income and taxed as per your slab.
3️⃣ EPF contribution beyond ₹2.5 lakh
For higher contributors, interest earned on the portion above the specified limit is taxable.
4️⃣ Selling investments
IPO gains? Planning to redeem equity investments or MFs?
Capital gains may create additional tax liability.

With the #AIS (Annual Information Statement), ignoring such income has become much harder.

Now the important question:
When do you need to pay advance tax?
If your total tax liability after considering TDS is more than ₹10,000 in a financial year, the advance tax rules apply.

The practical challenge is:
"How do I know my income for the full year in advance?"
You estimate!

Nobody can predict the future perfectly.
If you end up paying extra, you can claim a refund while filing returns.

The bigger lesson?
Tax planning is not just about saving tax.
It is about knowing your complete financial picture.

And yes, while the government accepts #CreditCards for tax payments, remember:
- convenience fees may apply
- Reward points are usually not available on such transactions
So use CC only when you are short of funds.
