The one money advice I give people in their 20s

"What's the one #financial piece of advice you give someone in their 20s?"
Recently, one of my #carpool partners asked me this, knowing my interest in #PersonalFinance.

She expected the usual answer.
"Start #investing from Day 1."
"Don't delay your #SIPs."
"Five years of #compounding lost can cost you crores."
All of that is mathematically correct.

But my answer was different.
In your first five years of your career, your biggest investment shouldn't be in stocks.
It should be in 'Yourself'.
Those five years often determine how your next twenty-five years unfold.

So yes, save money.
But don't become obsessed with maximising returns.
Instead, invest in increasing your earning potential.
Learn a new technology.
Improve your communication skills.
Take that certification.
Because a salary that doubles is far more powerful than an extra 2% return on your investments.

At the same time...
Explore life! Travel! Pick up hobbies!
Meet people from different backgrounds.
Because experiences shape decisions just as much as degrees do.

And then I shared one more piece of advice that surprised her.
Build your first ₹1 lakh.
Not to invest.
Not to spend.
Just let it sit in your bank account for 6 months.
If you can resist touching it for shopping, gadgets, or the next big sale, you've learnt one of the hardest financial skills:
Delayed gratification.

Managing money isn't just about maths. It's about managing emotions!

She smiled and said,
"That's exactly my problem. Every time I save something, the next sale arrives before my bank account cries." 😄
Let me take that as the first task and build my first 1 lakh!

#MoneyMinusNoise.
Your twenties aren't about building the biggest investment portfolio.
They're about building the person who will eventually build that portfolio.

I work with individuals seeking clarity on #PersonalFinance, #Taxation, #CreditCard Optimization, and #FinancialIndependence. If you need any help, feel free to send me a message.
