UPI data for March 2025: the notable shifts

#NPCI recently published the #UPI data for March 25, and while the usual giants still rule, there are some notable shifts in the rankings -

πŸ† 1. PhonePe & Google Pay – Still Dominating!
Together, they continue to hold 80 %+ of the UPI market. Their early mover advantage, seamless UX, and integration with everyday payments keep them unbeaten!

πŸš€ 2. super.money Enters the Top 5!
With a slick UX and attractive #cashback offers, they've managed to pull users away from existing established players! Kudos to the team, but it would be interesting to see if the users stick when the Cashback dries down, like in the case of PhonePe & GPay?
One suggestion to the team, the back button confirmation while exiting the app is very annoying β€” hoping the team refines this soon.

πŸ“‰ 3. CRED Slips to 7th position!
Despite having the highest per-transaction value, it seems the creditworthy individuals only use the app to pay their #CreditCard bills and not for the day-to-day UPI transactions!
With credit card bill payments now becoming a commodity, thanks to BBPS integration, and Cashbacks dying down, it would be interesting to see what strategy Cred would follow!

🏦 4. #Bank Apps Still Lagging
Despite being the backbone of the financial system, bank-owned apps continue to struggle with adoption. Maybe it’s time they took some design + incentive cues from Super.Money!

What’s your default UPI app?
Mine is Super.Money, followed by PayZapp and Google Pay.
