Carpooling: the easiest way to cut fuel use

Whether your company announces #WorkFromHome or not, is not in your hands…
But there are still many ways to reduce #fuel consumption and make commuting more sustainable.
One of the simplest ways is #Carpooling.

Thanks to my early days with #Infosys and the old #BulletinBoard (aka BB), I have been carpooling for well over a decade now.
Employees would simply post their routes, timings, and Available seats
…and fellow employees joined in, sharing fuel expenses.
Simple, Practical, and Efficient.

A few years later, apps like Quick Ride changed the ecosystem completely.
Now your carpool partners no longer need to belong to the same company/community.
People from different sectors all started sharing rides.
Over the years, through Quick Ride itself, I have shared 2500+ rides, interacting with 100s of professionals of different experience levels, right from Interns to 15yrs+ professionals!

And honestly, carpooling is not just about saving fuel; there are multiple other benefits.
Driving in cities like Bengaluru is exhausting. Traffic drains energy.
But with good carpool partners:
- The commute feels lighter
- Time passes faster
- Conversations become interesting

Over the years, I have had discussions on almost everything during carpools:
Bengaluru infrastructure, Politics, Bureaucracy, AI & Data, Investments, Careers, Startups, Real estate, Joblosses, Office gossip, and whatnot! 😄
In fact, Many of my LinkedIn posts are inspired by conversations during carpools.

Many people are initially apprehensive about carpooling.
Questions around: Comfort, Safety, Timing, Privacy are natural.
But a little flexibility and open communication usually solve most issues.

And beyond personal savings, the collective impact matters too.
Fewer cars on the roads means:
- Lower congestion
- Lower fuel consumption
- Lower emissions
- Less parking pressure

The interesting irony, many people discuss:
Climate change, Sustainability, and fuel prices daily on social media.
But hesitate to share a ride with someone traveling on the same route 😄

Do you #carpool regularly?
And if not, what stops you from trying it?
