Excel vs real life: should you prepay your home loan?

The #Excel Sheet vs #RealLife Debate: should you Prepay your #HomeLoan?
If you follow #finfluencers, you’ve surely heard this:
“Don’t prepay your home loan. Invest instead, home loan interest is at 8%, when you can easily earn 12% in markets?”
Sounds convincing, on Excel. But real life isn’t so linear!

A friend of mine took this advice to heart. He invested every extra rupee in stocks, skipped prepayments, and felt “smarter than the average investor.”
Then came a sudden #jobloss due to restructuring.
Now he’s juggling:
- #EMIs that don’t stop!
- #Investments that aren’t growing (Nifty has been flat for over a year now!)
And a mental block: “If I sell, I’ll lose #compounding benefits.”

Here’s the reality no Excel captures:
Markets don’t compound in a straight line, like FDs. They fluctuate and at times can test patience!
Always remember, peace of mind is priceless. A #DebtFree life is bliss.

So tell me, would you prepay your loan for peace of mind, or stay invested hoping the Excel sheet plays out?
