He invested ₹5 crore at Nifty 26,000. Then the market fell

A few months ago, when #Nifty reached a new peak of 26K, a prominent fund advisor cum #finfluencer boasted about investing ₹5 crores, proclaiming that market peaks were inconsequential due to his unwavering belief in #India's growth story.
Now, with the recent dips in the Nifty, the same individual writes lengthy posts on the declining Indian GDP and warns of potential further downturns.

Unfortunately, this isn’t an isolated case. Many finfluencers adopt a similar pattern: during market booms, they promise followers 20%+ returns or more, while during downturns, they pivot to discussing economic challenges.

The ones who suffer the most are the gullible investors who get swayed by such advice without fully understanding the market dynamics. They suddenly feel their dreams evaporating, entrapped in products they hardly understand!

What Should Investors Know Before Entering #Equity Markets?
- Embrace #Volatility: Equity returns are not linear. Investors must understand that markets can deliver exceptional returns in some years, followed by periods of subdued or even negative growth. Accepting this volatility is key to long-term success. Remember there is compounding in markets!
- #AssetAllocation: Many finfluencers seldom emphasize the importance of asset allocation. They might suggest that even retired individuals invest heavily in small caps. However, understanding your #RiskProfile and adjusting asset allocation accordingly is crucial. For short-term goals, it’s wiser to allocate more to #debt instruments than equities.

Is Investing Complex?
Investing itself isn’t complex, but managing emotions is. When someone promises 20-30% returns, it’s easy to get blinded by greed and abandon fundamental principles. A simple asset allocation plan, combined with a good understanding of financial products, can make investing straightforward.
For instance, Direct #IndexFunds can simplify your investment journey, yet they are rarely promoted. Why? Because the pursuit of the "Best" often leads to unnecessary complexity. By the way, we are even making the Index complex, by introducing new and exotic indexes!
