Let’s step back and understand how secured loans, especially #HomeLoans, actually work.
If you miss an EMI:
1️⃣ The bank sends reminders (SMS, email, calls).
2️⃣ If unpaid, physical letters and formal notices follow.
3️⃣ In many cases, bank representatives visit to understand the situation.
Why?
Because a loan is an asset for the bank.
And no bank wants a performing asset to become an #NPA (Non-Performing Asset).
Repossession is not step one. It’s the last resort.

What can a borrower do in case of genuine difficulty?
✔ Approach the bank immediately
✔ Request a short moratorium
✔ Seek loan restructuring (longer tenure, lower EMI)
✔ Offer proof of alternate assets or expected inflows
If someone has years of work experience, chances are they have:
• EPF balances
• Mutual funds
• Insurance surrender value
• Other financial assets

Banks are generally willing to accommodate if the borrower communicates and shows intent to repay.

Social media thrives on fear, but financial decisions shouldn’t.
Before believing viral posts, ask: Is this the full story?
