The PM's jhalmuri moment was paid in cash
Recently, during an election campaign in #WestBengal, the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji had a “#Jhalmuri moment”. The video went viral almost instantly.
But one small detail stood out to me: He paid in #Cash, not #UPI!

Now that felt a bit surprising.
Given that he has been one of the strongest advocates of #DigitalPayments, why a ₹10 note?
Some of the Possible reasons I can think of?
1️⃣ Cash still dominates beyond #metros
Step outside urban India and reality changes:
- Cash is still widely used
- Queues outside ATMs
- QR codes are not that prominent
2️⃣ Network reliability
UPI depends on connectivity.
In many areas, the network is patchy, and transactions can fail
Think about the #MemeFest the failure would have created!
3️⃣ Security protocols
Wherever the PM goes:
Signal jammers are often deployed. Connectivity can be restricted!
(Though interestingly, this could have been a great moment to showcase solutions like #UPI123PAY)
Curious to hear your thoughts. What do you think was the real reason behind this?
