Money Minus Noise

Bengaluru & public life

We are all part of the CJP: Corruption Janta Party

We all are part of CJP!!!

Corruption Janta Party.

We park on the road to save ₹20 in parking fees.
If the police catch us, we happily pay a ₹100 bribe.
We ride on footpaths.
We jump queues.
We break signals.
We claim tax deductions we are not entitled to.
We ask for bills without GST.
We sell properties in Cash.
We exaggerate insurance claims.
We take office supplies home.
We misuse reimbursements and expense accounts.
We download pirated content.
We damage public property.

And if given a chance to benefit unfairly with little risk of getting caught, many of us would take it.

Yet we are quick to point fingers at politicians, bureaucrats, corporations, and "the system."

Here's a thought.
Can we take a pledge?
✔️ I will not offer bribes.
✔️ I will not evade taxes.
✔️ I will not misuse influence.
✔️ I will not cheat for personal gain.
✔️ I will follow the same rules I expect others to follow.

Corruption doesn't start with a scam worth crores.
It starts with everyday decisions where we believe the rules apply to everyone except us.
The politician taking crores and the citizen claiming a fake tax deduction are not equal in scale.

But they are connected by the same mindset:
"Rules are for others."

A society cannot be honest at the top if dishonesty is acceptable at the bottom.

The system is not separate from us.
We are the system.

PS - This is not a political post, sadly everything has become political, in the Polarised Social Media World!
