Money Minus Noise

Bengaluru & public life

“We pay 30–40% tax, give us free education and healthcare”

"Bro, we pay 30-40% #taxes.
The government should at least provide free #education and #healthcare."
"Bro, you are expecting too much.
The government can't even provide clean #air and drinking #water.
You are expecting free education and healthcare?" 🙂

The irony is, we became "#Atmanirbhar" long before the word became popular.
No clean water? Buy a tanker!
Water quality doubtful? Install a purifier!
Air pollution rising? Buy an Air purifier!
Need better education? Pay for private schools!
Need healthcare? Buy insurance and visit private hospitals!

The problem common citizens face is that many necessities have slowly shifted from being public responsibilities to private expenses.
And this creates an #InvisibleTax.

We pay taxes to the government.
Then we pay again to create our own solutions for things that should ideally work for everyone.
And when we buy those solutions, we pay taxes again. 🙂

We have no shortage of rules.
Rules for pollution.
Rules for construction.
Rules for industries.
But enforcement often disappears in the name of "development".
Illegal construction continues.
Polluting industries expand.
Citizens keep adapting!

How long should citizens keep paying an invisible tax for basic necessities?
