A “common man” can bring a road to a standstill
A "#CommonMan" can bring an entire road to a standstill.
Yesterday, it took me more than 45 minutes to cover a distance of 1.5 km.

The reason?
A "common man" decided to build a structure and blocked one lane of the main road with construction materials!
Just one person’s construction.
And thousands of people’s problems, but #WhoCares!
Among those stuck were school buses.
Children with their bags are waiting on the roadside.
Some frustrated parents finally took their two-wheelers and dropped their kids off at school themselves.
While stuck in traffic, my #carpool friends and I kept guessing the reason.
Accident?
Vehicle breakdown?
Road repair?
We considered everything.
But we really underestimated the power of the "Common Man." 🙂
As we crossed the spot, the picture became clearer.
Police were busy removing the construction material.
And the "Common Man" was busy helping divert #traffic.
For nation-building, we are told to make sacrifices.
Use cleaner fuel (this has no link to the E20 controversy).
Accept lower mileage.
Adjust.
Adapt.
But maybe before asking citizens to compromise, we should also fix the basics:
Better roads.
Stronger enforcement.
Equal rules for everyone.
My car gives less than 10 km/litre on most city drives.
The same car gives 15+ km/litre on highways.
Instead of all the drama, if the government controls illegal construction, enforces rules, and makes cities' roads better, we would gain more!
Maybe there is no incentive with the #Government to do this, since revenue matters more!
More traffic, More fuel consumption, More tax income (we pay 50% as taxes on fuel)!
More Potholes, frequent tenders, More (shhhh....)!
Will we ever change?
I doubt, with such power in the hands of the "Common Man", he has the potential to do almost anything!
