Money Minus Noise

Loans, EMIs & spending

Since when did spending become a flex?

Since when did #spending become a flex?
That's the new trend on #SocialMedia.

Every week, someone posts their monthly expenses.
The bigger the number, the bigger the #engagement!

And if you look closely, many even include one-time expenses like security deposits, vacations, or gadgets to inflate the total.

All they want is eyeballs and clicks by creating NOISE!

So, how much should someone in their early 20s actually spend every month?
There is no universal answer.

Someone earning ₹2 lakh a month has a very different reality from someone earning ₹60,000.

Personal Finance is Personal.

What matters more than the number are the habits behind it!
• Share accommodation in the initial years. #Rent is usually the biggest expense, and sharing also reduces internet, groceries, and utility bills.
• Pay yourself first. #Save or invest the day your salary is credited. Then spend what's left.
• Follow the 48-hour rule. If you still want that #gadget after two days, buy it. Most impulse purchases disappear with time.
• Avoid #EMIs for #lifestyle purchases. Just because something costs ₹2,999/month doesn't mean you can afford it.
• Invest in your #career. A promotion or better job will create far more wealth than obsessing over saving ₹200 on coffee.

In your early 20s, your first financial milestone shouldn't be owning luxury brands.
It should be building an #EmergencyFund that lets you sleep peacefully if you lose your #job tomorrow.

It isn't #Instagram-worthy.
But it is #wealth-worthy.

Don't compare your expenses to those of strangers on the internet.
Compare them with your financial goals.
